We have deliberately sought contacts and associations in India and some African countries. The purpose of this is to look for commercial and other opportunities for ourselves, other New Zealanders, and the people and organizations of the other countries.
What is below reflects a beginning – an early stage of development. We would welcome feedback.
India
Did you know that you can get a tooth capped in India by a highly skilled dentist using up-to-date facilities at around $150 a cap?
We have personal experience of the services available and can advise you on how to combine this with a holiday in one of the world’s great travel destinations.
We have travelled widely in India and recently spent some time in the south western state of Kerala.
Varkala and Kovalum are the well-known beach resorts. Here you can swim and surf in the Arabian sea, avail yourself of ayuvedic therapy, eat giant prawns and swordfish steaks and the greatest array of tropical fruit you are ever likely to see, stay in good clean middle-range accommodation for $35 (double) a night, and get your teeth fixed on the side. There are other medical facilities available as well.

South India
We have a number of contacts in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and can advise you on what to do, where to stay, and what to expect.
There are many investment opportunities in India and Kerala is no exception. Buy a house at Varkala, start a business with a local partner, or invest in a local business. We have an association with a family who run a famous guesthouse in Fort Cochin and tourist accommodation and a working spice plantation in a verdant valley near Munnar in the Western Ghats. They are looking for investors right now for a planned resort at Alapuzha, near Alleppy.
Africa
Rwanda
Rwanda is a small land-locked country scarred by the genocide of 1994. These days it is a country on the rise courtesy of international aid and good government. There are many business opportunities available. It is also a great travel destination with many attractions including the famous mountain gorillas.
It is a special little country and it needs your help – as a tourist, aid worker and/or investor. Go visit and find out for yourself.
Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a country collapsing under the weight of 80 million people, the loss of 95% of its forests, climate change, general environmental degradation, and a corrupt Government.
The people need help … now. It is a cheap, safe and fascinating travel destination. Aid opportunities are endless. Business opportunities exist also, although these are not straight-forward.
Other African and Asian countries for which we can provide some advice are Djbouti, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
